Some interesting wiper information I discovered. The top arm in the first picture is original from my 67. The one next to it is an aftermarket one. Notice the crook angle difference. It makes a huge difference in how the blade sits. With the oem arms the blades sit nicely on the windshield as shown in the second picture.

I ordered the aftermarket arms thinking they would work. Mine were rusted pretty bad. I was going to stash them away and get around to restoring them eventually. However, I couldn’t stand how wrong the aftermarket ones were so I went ahead and blasted the rust off mine and touched up the paint. Should have just done that to start with.

That right there is the story of my life.

Looking at the pictures I suspect when you installed them the wipers sat at an angle when you installed them instead of sitting flat against the windshield like you show in the picture.

I bet they work better too and the spring is better on your old ones.

Yes, in order to keep them off the windshield gasket I had to install them at an angle. It was either that or have them lay on the gasket itself if I wanted them to lay horizontally. The original arms are also slightly shorter, maybe because of the crook, so the blade doesn't hit the gasket on the side of the glass either like the new ones did when I tried to set them horizontally.
