I was just scrolling thru some of my old pics and stopped on some pics of the original Orangecrusher buggy I built and thought about how drastically it has changed since then. Which gave me an idea that might make a fun thread.
Post up some pics of how drastically your buggy has changed over the years. Only one rule, it has to be the same buggy. This will give some of the new guys some perspective on how everyone doesn't always start out knowing everything or having the nicest rig. Most times, it's a progression and a learning process made over years. And it will give some of us old guys an excuse to post up pics of our babies. But post even if you've only had your buggy a short time. We will focus on the pics more so than the details in the pics themselves.
I'll start.
This was my donor(namesake)

Very cool pics Brian.
Sadly, I don't have any from back in the hay days of Pismo Beach. They got burned up in a fire back in 1984. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I really don't have any before pics, I've had it since 18. About the only thing that's still there is the frame. I remember the first couple years it seemed like every time I went to do something on it I got a lesson in VW history as well. Edit....I found an older pic probably within a year of me getting it. Still drum brakes, wrong plates, old engine and so on. I feel like it's come a long way since that picture.

The day I picked it up:
It was originally a daily driver and more of a show car:
As it sits now as a full blown race car.
Only things left from the original car are the pan, shell and doors. _________________ 65 Baja - Class 5 Unlimited Race Car

Perfect thread timing. Just took these a few weeks ago because I happened to have the car in the same position in the garage.

Yeah the reason mine has wrap and graphics and his doesn't yet is because I started younger and have had more time.

Wife has history in kirkwood. Her grandfather kinyon was mayor for quite some time.
Her dad used to own a bar where the imos is now by spencers. You know, the imos the creeper who kindapped the boy , shawn hornbeck, managed. And lived behind. The creeper and I went to the same high school, but was not familiar with him.
That pic was taken to fullfil a vw fun challenge in the general chat section after leaving a spring thing show at schafly brewery in maplewood.
Anybody who used to get hot vws, should recognize bill's double cab. He used to write transporter talk.

Yes, everyone from Kirkwood knows about Shawn, I know the apartments where he was kept. I also personally know the family of the people who tracked and discovered him. The mother in that family was very instrumental in finding him passed away about 6 or so years ago but she saw him come home. They lived in richwood mo. What was the name of the bar? |

BFB, I started even younger with this one!
I know this car isn't off road but there has been some progress here too. Much of which is not visible in pictures.

heh heh, y'all are funny.
I'd post up some before & afters but most of mine were ones I built & flipped, not really something that changed over time. and my rail & Baja are about the same, before & afters but neither really changed alot over the years _________________ "how am i supposed to torque the rear wheel nut to 250 ft lbs??? I might as well do Mary, even though I don't think she's gotten any prettier since she's met me.
