This project build can be summed up in three words; Budget, Deadlines, and FAST!
We’ll be taking a “barn find”, intact, ‘67 Beetle and transforming it into a formidable street brawler. On the outside it’ll look just like any other old car that was just dragged out of its final resting place behind the hay baler. Under the decklid however,......let’s let that be a surprise.
Did I mention that I know very little about working on these old Volkswagens?
The car has been sitting still for at least twenty years, I’m guessing more like thirty. So the first thing at hand is making it safe to drive and getting the old engine that came in it running. Just because I don’t like junk sitting around that doesn’t at least run.
Because I’m a much better video editor than I am a writer, I’ll be producing short videos of our progress. Those I’ll be posting here as they come out.
We hope you enjoy the build!
The first video release will be Sunday July 13th (2025)

Despite the little bit of rust and mounds of mouse nests, this car is surprisingly intact. It seems most all the "one year only" stuff is still here. Even the piece of cardboard that protects the top of the voltage regulator from the seat springs.

Of course it wasn't a simple task of just turning the key and the old engine would start.
Have you ever had this issue? What did you do to solve it?

Thank you for illuminating your dark work areas with lights so that we can see what you are doing! So many people rely on ambient lighting, with NO additional lights, which is completely insufficient- the work area is thereby dark. |

Thanks! That's one of the reasons why we got into the whole YouTube thing 12 years ago. We got tired of how-to videos being so poorly produced. Like you said, the lighting was always bad, audio sucked where you could barely hear the person speaking, or the camera work was really shaky. _________________ Swing on over to our YouTube channel. I'm bound and determined to get this car safe to drive down the street. Here's the next episode where I get the brakes working, somewhat.

WOW, have I been slacking at keeping this thread current. Now I have some catching up to do.
In this episode I get the engine running!
