Decided to have ago at quietening down the noise emanating from dual 40 webers on my 1776. The sound is normal but I find it a bit to much on long trips. This is a more performance orientated engine. Big valve cb pachito heads,110 cam, high ratio rockers, counter weighted cb crank, fully balanced etc.... anyway it sounds great but the noise from the dual webers can be a bit over bearing at times. To resolve this I fitted CB turbo top hats with side tubes to which I fitted two k& n pod filters. Best to view the attached photos. I welded in my own side tube inlets as I made these a little larger than the ones that come standard on the cb turbo top hats. I have also made a small rain shield fitted to the inside of the hood to protect the filters. The outcome is amazing, with at least a 70 percent reduction in carb noise. Makes the car way more pleasant to drive.
