I am not only into VWs but have been building old Toyota trucks for years. Therefore I am very active on IH8MUD.com Recently a guy in that forum posted this:
"Just a warning for anyone who uses Partsouq - which I have for many years. I placed an order with a bunch of stuff that I needed for about $1900usd after shipping.
I just got an email from UPS today that I owe over $1500 additional before they deliver my package. It says that this has gone into effect July 7th, 2025. I would never have ordered this if I had known that. Just a warning guys, that loophole is now closed."
Partsouq is in UAE. There recently was an over under of $800 for a tariff application but others have learned that is going out the window. A spirited and very informative conversation ensued.
If you are ordering anything from outside the US, depending on country, it would appear the tariffs are hitting hard and it could be an astonishing surprise.
Further, as current parts supplies in the US dwindle, parts manufactured outside the US (which is most of them) are reportedly to see a massive price increase. This also from that forum and informative but applicable to Toyota parts:
"My "friends" in Plano have guaranteed that OEM Toyota parts in the US will increase significantly in the next 2-4 months as current US depot inventory depletes and more parts are brought into the main US depots.
Quite significantly on anything Made in Japan (possibly up to 50% price increases). (which is basically 99.9999% of parts we install on our Land Cruisers).
Especially on things like wiring harnesses (Japan/Vietnam), short blocks, heads, transmissions, electronic parts."
I am not making a political statement but just letting you guys know, if you buy something from outside the US as many of us do a surprise could be in store. If it is coming from your favorite vendor, brace yourself as they are going to be passing those massive costs on to you depending on the source of their parts. But hopefully it will be in their advertised prices and not a hidden handling charge. _________________ - 1973 Thing, 1970 Ghia, some LandCruisers and an old Ambulance |

Thanks for this valuable info.
Heiferman, I checked your other forum https://www.ih8mud.com is it for all Toyota trucks/Land Cruisers?
I saw an ad on that site for a battery called GoldenMate which I have never heard of so I checked it out and it says it also has a bluetooth feature. Is that the way car guys are going bluetooth vehicle batteries?
I'm starting to shop for a battery for my daily driver, 1985 Nissan 720 truck of which I've been using my 67 Westy battery. BTW I doubt I will be buying the Goldenmate battery for $300. on sale for $220. but just asking about the bluetooth technology.
Thanks in advance, Linda

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

We should soon see a surge in American made parts being offered, tariff free. This will be a good thing for American factory workers. _________________ Sorry About That Chief.

you can shit in 1 hand and wish in the other to see which one comes true first.
manufacturing jobs are NOT coming back to the US, at least not the way they once were.
