The original emblem is so weak at the tabs if I bend them back to hold it to the hood I know they will break off . So we ordered a new one for it from WW has anyone had issues with the tabs not lining up with slots in hood ?? Fixes ? Anybody know of a new replacement one besides WW that fits correctly?

that looks like a later short 4 tab emblem of the type used with the 3 pin plastic insert. on the original 4 tab emblem the tabs are bent inwards then back so they match the diameter of the slot circle (which is smaller than the outer emblem diameter) as in this photo, the tabs are longer and also split

your options are to replace the tabs on the original by using thin sheet jb welded to the rim or buying one with tabs intact from the classifieds

As Finster pointed out, you need to shape the tabs to line up with the holes.
