TL;DR: Has anyone replaced the brass tubes on their Pierberg fuel pumps with threaded, barbed inlets/outlets?

The long version:

A local VW parts hoarder died and his family is clearing out the property. While I don't need any parts, anything not taken is going to scrap so I just couldn't help myself. For $40 I picked up a louvered decklid that I'll plan to run on my 69 in hot weather, and a few Pierberg fuel pumps that I plan to rebuild at some point as winter projects. I have good Pierberg pumps in both our bugs, a squaretop in our 69 courtesy of 67rustavenger, and a dometop with the hardline inlet in our 61. I grabbed two squaretops and another dometop, as I figured it couldn't hurt to have some backups on hand.

One pump is missing a brass tube. It looks like I can order 5mm OD brass tubing, cut to length and install a new one. If I went that route I'd Loctite them in, as I learned to do when my outlet fell out earlier this summer when changing the fuel line in our 61.

However, has anyone gone the extra mile and installed a threaded, barbed fitting into these fuel pumps like is commonly done for carburetors? I've only found vague reference to it here on the forums. If anyone's done it, what size outlet did you use and did you need to drill it out before tapping threads? Or am I overthinking this and should just Loctite in the brass tubes? I appreciate any guidance!

P.S. - The parts liquidation is in Salem, OR if anyone wants details. Anything left is going to scrap in the next week or two. I did feel a bit overcharged considering I paid well over scrap value for my items, but maybe they'll come down in price more as the end date draws closer. Most of the parts were for late model Bugs, Rabbits, and Vanagons.

3/16" NPT fittings are what you need.

I had some brass tubes with threads on them manufactured. Email me and we can discuss.
