Greetings from the UK!
Previously owned a cool 1964 bug originally exported to Japan by Yanase and imported to the UK.
But I really really wanted an early bug in a vintage speed / Cal style of my own (i,e rough and knarly) and if I was gonna do it, it had to be a split.
A likely candidate turned up locally, in fact it was one I had seen for sale a year previously and I was asking around my friends if they remembered it. Fate!?
Anyway deal done and it arrived home. In another small twist of fate I found out it was originally owned by another friend who space-framed it and installed Toyota MR2 running gear!

Plan:
install recently purchased 1965 gearbox and short axle following rebuild Wagenswest Lollipop nose cone to fit original front mount.
1641cc with Vintage Speed exhaust.
12V 21 way circuit and rewired to 'modern convention' - i.e. individual circuits for each item.
Type 3 rear brake drums
356 rep rims 4.5" 145/15 & 5.5" 205/70/15
Red 9 Industry front beam
Empi zero offset front discs
Hydraulic fly-off handbrake
Limebug adjustable gearbox mount (looks cool)
Front Seats - can't decide, possibly Empi highbacks
currently looking for a gear shift lever, E-brake lever if anyone can help |
