it's one month away and it is a weekend full of fun and vw's on the west coast of canada. drag racing on friday night. pancake breakfast/open house/show & shine at airspeed parts on saturday, and the big show on sunday.

august 13th, friday - street legal drags at mission raceway. 1 1/4 hours east of vancouver. there are alot of fast street driven cars on the west coast of canada. 10 second turbo. 11 second nitrous cars. one 11 second n/a vw and a whole lot of 12 & 13 second n/a cars. the competition is fierce and the action is fast and farout. it is the best night of the summer to be at the track.

august 14th, saturday - mega feed at airspeed. speed parts and performance store in langley, 45 minutes east of vancouver, owned and operated by 2 members of the local club, DVKK. shine your car and shoot the s#!t. poker run? maybe. it's been known to happen. all in all, a good day of bench racing and eating.

august 15th, sunday-sunday-sunday - beautifull outdoor show in the heart of port coquitlam, just 30 minutes east of vancouver. awesome weather, tons of people and alot of pristine, high quality cars. swap meet, engine blow, bug stuff. live band. you name it, this show has it. the gene berg cruisers have made it the last 2 years and the show gets some hotvws coverage as well. in a word. spectacular.

i've been going for the last 5 years and it just keeps getting bigger and better. i recomend this show and weekend a must for all vw enthusiasts. a great way to see and visit beautifull british columbia AND take part in the best vw show that canada has to offer.

is it in the same location as last year? i had a real blast and the location kicked ass

and the engine blow was one of the smokiest things ive ever seen (that is saying a lot)

i recommend this show to everyone, it is well worth th drive (outside of vancouver)

i missed last year but i have gone the previous 6 or 7 years. it is an awesome weekend. i will be there again this year forsure.

is there anywhere to camp around there? i crashed on a neighborhood street on saturday night
but I slept right thru a gay pride march on the morning before in BC and got a ticket!

the park it is held at has a trails course for bmx/mountain jumpers and a skatepark (i think it also had a little water park area?)

another cool thing was the pedestrian overpass above- it made for some really cool aerial shots

rizzag, you coming up in a VW for this show?

hey dez. as far as i know the show on sunday is at the same location as always. coquitlam town centre. for camping do a google search for "port coquitlam" or "british columbia provincial parks".

i'd suggest bringing your 67 sundial and parking as close as possible to the show site so you can wake up to the sound of swappers and vw's.

i'll post here to let you know if i find out more info on camping.

make sure you come up regardless. the more people from the us, the better.

make sure you make it to all 3 main events. drag racing friday. s&s pancake breaky sale at airspeed parts on saturday and the show on sunday.

We'll be going up from the San Juans for just Sunday. I just had surgery so I don't know how much walking I'll be able to do. Sunday alone will be my limit for sure. We'll be representing Volksfab, you'll be able to spot us, say hi if you see us.

the whole weekend was damn fabulous.

alot of 12 second cars running the drags on friday.

openhouse was packed with people and cars, food and bench racing/story telling.

the show was off the hook. huge turnout. alot of really nice type 2's. alot of people.

the weather was hothothot all 3 days.

i couldnt find volksfab or ms priss or camerod tho. i saw patricks patina-ed single cab up close. met the guy from oregon w/ the slammed 58 bug briefly. (sorry man, cant remember your name).

all of you who missed it should start planning for next year. this show just keeps getting better and better.
