Join us Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 9 - 3 pm on the grassy lawn of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum for the annual Volkswagen Day show - Transporterfest! The show attracts air and water-cooled cars from around New England and beyond together with a swap area on the lower lawn and awesome antique autos and automobilia on display inside the historic carriage house on the Larz Anderson estate.
There are dash plaques for show cars and awards offered in various classes.

Ongoing restoration work at Winter Island and Fort Pickering have reduced the size of camping for 2025. This year, we will only be camping in the "Igloo" area. Prior year participants should contact Stanagon to confirm they are coming, and new attendees should contact to inquire about space or waitlisting. Camping remains at $20 per night. This is busy-season for Salem, feel free to arrive Thursday to explore the area while the campout officially begins on Friday. There are no utility, electric, or water hookups, but bathrooms and showers are nearby. Make sure not to leave any food or coolers out overnight, racoons here are certified geniuses and will figure out how to get into your Yeti...
For those campers who brave to take on the Witch City, there are tons of activities, tours, shops, and events to check out around Salem. I have been visiting Salem every year since 2003, and own the phrase "been there, done that, got the t-shirt." There's lots of campy tours and pop-up shops that profess to be museum-quality. Don't get caught in a tourist trap - I have compiled my favorite places to visit at salem.obnoxiousblue.com together with an interactive map to help you plan your route
The Transporterfest Rally leaves Sunday morning at 8 am from Winter Island Park bound for the show at Larz Anderson! Please only join the caravan if you plan to remain with the group throughout the trip. If you need to divert for fuel, food, or choose to follow a different route please wait until after the group leaves. Each year, without fail, someone in the middle of the line decides to take a different route and predictably takes half the caravan with them. Then people get lost and upset. Don't be that guy. It is epic to see a line of buses cruising down the highway, you don't want to miss it! If you have a FRS/GMRS radio or walkie talkie (like those blister pack radios) bring it! It helps us to keep together during the trip.
Our route takes about 60 minutes and intentionally avoids the obvious path directly south through Boston where the roads are short and twisty, with lots of lights. Even if you're not rolling in the rally, it is suggested to follow the route below.
Follow the route to Brookline at transporterfest.obnoxiousblue.com _________________ Mike

One week away, looking forward to it.
Will be there around 8am, but need to leave at noon because I have opening day Providence Bruins tickets to the game at 3pm.
As always, if anyone is looking for a late west top bunk and hardware, I have it and can bring it along with me. You can have it for free, I’m tired of of looking at it. PM me if you’re interested. _________________ 77 Westy - Cape Cod Sage

Great extended weekend of camping and despite the weather forecast, 100+ vehicles attended.
I arrived at camp around 9:30 on Thursday and was surprised to see 3 busses had arrived before me (they arrived Wednesday).
As usual getting through Boston was difficult, despite hitting the road before 6am (I live 60 miles south of Boston).
Might arrive Wednesday next year, leaving my house to hit Boston midday, _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"
