Seeking the wisdom of those here- I’m considering these carbs for my ‘66 Type 1 sedan with an early 70s stock 1600 dual port and center mount single carb. I can’t determine if they will fit physically without cutting or drilling (I’ve not seen those oil bath air cleaners or tall manifolds before); if they can be successfully rebuilt with existing rebuild kits if available; and can they be jetted and tuned to be happy with a stock 1600; and do they have with the capacity to support a slightly larger displacement and mild street cam upgrade someday. The seller is communicating well with me and states they will need rebuilt, but isn’t sure about fitment either. I’m aware of the new dual carb conversion kits available at the usual sellers, some (EMPI as an example) seem affordable, but these just caught my eye and I’ve read good things about the brand.
Any insight is appreciated, including anything else I should be aware of.

I use stock Type 3 Dual PDSIT's, custom (extended tube) high rise single manifolds on my 1967's 1600 single port with an Engle 100 cam and lightened flywheel.
It's not a powerhouse but it surely has a seat of the pants feel stronger with much quicker acceleration for 1584cc's
I did fatten up the jet for the 1/3 side. I didn't upgrade to a doghouse cooler, so it had a hotter lean tendency on that side. It was simple main jet swap from a single stock 32 carb.

You'll certainly have to do some custom work as it's not a bolt and go upgrade.
I doubt the oil baths will ever work on an upright doghouse.

The custom work the loss of ease of engine removal and carb adjusting are the only caveats.

Buying used.. they will need overhauled and you better bet on throttle shaft bores being worn out and will need bushing . Ditch the fuel cut off solenoids for standard jets.

IMO.... for the sake of tune and easy of working on Id probably try a single center mount Weber HDMX/IDF style carb the next time.

If you cant handle some custom work, mods and overall figuring it out... walk away.

Time is better spent and enjoyed driving than wrenching every time..

In general Type 2 and Type 3 but those manifolds are too tall for 2/3 applications.
I think those in the photos are Type 1 aftermarket manifolds .

32-34s were for the Bay Window Bus in the USA but I think those carbs and those manifolds were used on a bunch of Brazilian vehicles.

I'm not sure of the exact models or years though.

Good point Smile

Maybe the Brasilia?
I couldn't find a good photo of the engine quickly but I think they have dual carbs on an upright engine?
