| My 73 Super Beetle has an odd thump when coasting. It runs great, but when I let off the gas and start braking, you can hear a thump coming from the rear. Not from the motor but it's definitely in the back end. Any ideas? |

A constant thumping or a single thump? _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

Is it when you start braking and keep braking or after you let up off the brakes?
Are your rear shoes somehow wonky? _________________ "Knowledge is Good" - Faber College |

It's not in the brakes. Does it when coasting, braking or whatever. |

You can only coast out of gear in neutral or with the clutch pedal depressed. The engine under a load, or engine braking, is not coasting. _________________ "Knowledge is Good" - Faber College |

Oh, nothing. Just saying that the only time you can coast is in neutral. _________________ "Knowledge is Good" - Faber College |
