Is this 019 distributor worth restoring?

Hello all,

got a box of vw parts at a garage sale. thought i scored an 019 distributor…..

noticed the bottom of the housing was loose. took the drive flange off and it was in fact broken right under the o ring.


thinking i could try cleaning up the mating surfaces real good and JB weld it back together? anyone ever try to fix this? worth fixing? thank you all for your help

Sure glue the body back together.




Seriously... it's trash, the bushings are in each end and you'll never repair it. If you can find another body then you can use the best parts.

Carefully drill the badge off. Then you can install it on a 009 and make a copy 019 if you are after that advance curve

No, but it is relatively easy to copy the 019 curve into the 009

Kuhltek is just another word for Empi.
No, I would never use one of those later Chinese ones or whereever they are made. I I had to use a 009, whether std or modified I would source an old German or a little later Brazil. The Canadian (?) Accuvance were fair without being exceptional, but I think those are NLA too.
That said, I think the last 009 I used in an engine was probably in 2019 or so.

While there can be - and is sometimes an estetic side of things I am of the opinion that all those older dizzy´s have outlived themselves, 6V and very early stuff exempt for various reasons. Today there are several much better options on the market, and for very decent money.

You can't glue those together. I wouldn't even try to weld it as you need to have that bottom half aligned as it has a lower bushing in it.

The internals from that distributor are worth a little money.

If you can find a 019 with rusted internals you have a match for it.

You could make a 1 piece bushing, that would align the 2 pieces of the housing.
