I recently bought a 38 synchronous carburetor that was set up for a front engine car. I can't find the proper linkage to get it running anywhere.
I found a great example of what I'm looking for on You Tube (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Rp3Oiw8Gp5c) but I can't seem to find the standalone linkage anywhere without an entire carburetor and intake manifold coming along with it. Does anyone know the part number for this or have any experience taking the DIY Route? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in Advance _________________ 1973 Beetle in various states of disassembly

That was a home built linkage setup, the arm on the DGV, the pull arm for the accerator cable and that short linkage are all available, you have to supply the piece of angle iron and do some calculations, a little gold paint and put it together.
The 38/38 DGV is a lot of carburator, like 390 CFM, mostly fitted to modified 2L all the way up to 3L engines and jetted right can run on a small block V8. |

Thank you. Whats a good key word to look for that short threaded arm? _________________ 1973 Beetle in various states of disassembly

They are called Linkage Rod Ends, cone in vaious styles, metric and standard thread. As for the short rod, nobody will have it, you will have to either buy all thread rod in whatever picth the rod ends are or get a die and thread your own rod.
Here is a link to Carbs Unlimited linkage page, another source would be Pierce Manifolds and there are others.

or buy the proper intake for a 38/38....

but your best bet would be to set that 38 aside and use a 32/36, I swear those 38's dump more fuel that a 44 IDF. I swapped a 38/38 inplace of a 32/36 and the 38 was really too much carb especially off the line and at cruise , and this was on a boosted 2021cc engine. _________________ "how am i supposed to torque the rear wheel nut to 250 ft lbs??? An interesting thing happens in forums where everyone starts parroting the same thing and "common knowledge" takes over.
Most experts aren't. |

| Good find, better yet he just needs the intake with that linkage setup, CIP part C10-3232 for a whopping $109.64 |

the best 38/38 I've seen on a bug had been modified to be a progressive 38/38 and of course needed preheat. as i`s they are way too big for most aircooled VW's. a 32/36 will be much better for most people _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |
