Not a lot of them out there, but there are a few!
I have a January 1961 Gulf Blue sold new at Morse Motors in Medford, OR.
The Saxomat clutch was troublesome with not a lot of info on them in pre internet days, so it was removed and converted to a standard clutch with 28k miles on it. All the parts sat in a box in a shed until I dug them out and sold them to a member here back in 2011, prior to me owning the car. Now that I own the car I would like the parts back, but the current owner wants many times over what I originally sold them for… Hopefully some day they will get back to the car.

I read the Saxomat was only offered in Europe although having an M code i would of thought it could be ordered anywhere around the world . |

They were available in the US as well, but definitely in small numbers…!
The only thing my car still has is the shifter, which is still a pretty cool homage to it’s history… |

Somewhere under the technical tab should be a Saxomat instruction manual.
I just searched for it but, my search foo is not strong today. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Thanks 67rustavenger. Im lucky in that i have a 61 edition VW workshop manual with the supplement in regarding the saxomat system. Covering checks. Specs and reconditioning information.
I actually had the manual before owning the car. Long story for another day |
