Gotta change a window in one of my Vanagons. The stationary one behind the sliding door.
Any suggestions? Tricks? Shortcuts, (glass cuts?????) _________________ Retired attorney--Tort King. |

depends on whether or not you're going to try to reuse the old seal, or if you have a new seal. If you have a new seal, you can just cut out the old one with a box cutter, and install the window like any other piece of flat glass. If you're going to reuse the old seal, you have to be a lot more careful pushing it out from the inside. This will be tedious, but if the seal is suppe enough, it will work. _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

Old seal is in good shape. Thanks to California's nasty winters! HAHAHA
I watched a shop put in a windshield once, may try their technique. Lots of silicon spray, and a rope. Need to put in actually several windows, hate to have them shatter in my hands _________________ Retired attorney--Tort King. |

Cool. I usually use a good, strong string, that will be thin enough to fit into the groove in the seal where the metal goes eventually, and wrap it around 3 times. Usually the first time gets it, mostly the second time, but occasionally you need that third go round, and if you didn't wrap it, you have to do it all again.
If you have another person on the outside, pushing the window in *gently*, it'll help a lot.
good luck. I've got to replace the sliding side window on my westy when I can afford a replacement. _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!
