|
|
I recently found and bought a OG basketcase Okrasa motor (36horse)that has been sitting 30 years We split the case and found a clean 8 dowel 69mm crank with the EMPI stamp on it,Cool!
Also for a spare was an NOS crank, it is believed to be for a porsche. It is 8 dowel 50main and 53rod 74mm stroke, they both have the same what appears to be a manufacture stamp although I can't read them(real small). We were hoping to make it a matching porsche 74x83 that would be a fast 36horse looking motor! but the pistons and cylinders don't fit. Does anybody know what I could do? are there any early porsche P&C kits the fit on the 36 horse head stud pattern and would fit in the Okrasa heads? I remember a while back hearing about Bill Collins doing something similar,I think? If all else fails I could sell the porsche? crank and just build the 69mm stroker Okrasa, but a faster 36er would be better!
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you. |

My 36hp Okrasa that I am building now for my 50 split is using a stock Okrasa crank with 80mm 912 P&C's. Of course the Pistons require case and head machining. I had Rimco do both and it turned out very nice. My engine will be 1500cc when its done with a 74 Porsche crank it would be about 1600cc with the 80mm P&C's The porsche crank may require a little clearancing but should drop in.
The 912 P&C's were very expensive, don't know why really they don't seem to be anything special just Porsche prices I guess.
You can talk with Joe Ruiz [email protected] to get more information or to by these pistons and cylinder kits.

Thank you so much Craig. That helps alot. Other than the case needing machining did the head stud pattern fit the cylinders?

They fit stock heads as well has Okrasa heads which require the stock stud location.
Of course I had case inserts put into my case just for a little extra insurance. The machining still leaves enough room for the case inserts. Any bigger than 80mm and you would have a lot of work relocating the studs.

The size of the 912 Mahle cylinders are 83mm total OD of the pistons is 87mm. Sorry for the confusion.

Camerod- I would certainly qualify as the other in this group of 3. I bought a pair of 36hp Okrasa Heads with magnesium ratio rockers and then found and bought a complete 1300 TSV Kit Engine 9 days later all within the last couple months. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

Was there an ID on the maker of those rockers. Are there anyone out there making/selling ratio rockers for 36hp engines?

We couldn't find any manufacturers markings on them anywhere. One friend told me that a similar product was made by EMPI and sold by both them and JC Whitney back in the day. Another friend mentioned a company named "Thomas" that made them. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage
