Just wondering if I'm the only one this type of stuff has happened to. On a road trip My wallet was stollen with all my insurance info and credit cards and cash luckly they left my licencse and Insurance the next day in the lobby of the hotel I was at. This left a delema no food or gas money to get 600 miles home and no one to wire me money. So I got a peice of cardboard and a marker and wrote NEED GAS MONEY TO GET HOME!!! After five minutes a guy came up to me and my girlfriend and asked what happened he left and came back five minutes later with a Shell gas card for 50 dollars and also gave us forty bucks for food. Yes I did get his address and sent repayed him and some more. Another time with the original 1600 with 101,000 miles I was coming down the redwood highway when the oil light turned on shut off the motor and checked the oil not a drop in the case.(funny I had checked that when I filled up hour and a half earlier) 10 minutes later a lady pulled over and asked what was wrong told her that I had no oil she said "man that sucks" and left in a tire screeching frenzy. Well an hour later she pulls up again and hands me 5 quarts of castrol gtx 10/40 and leaves I couldn't even get her to take the twenty bucks I had wanted to give her. Another time I ran out of gas on the way to work and a guy with a landscaping truck pulled over and let me buy some gas off him 5 bucks for 4 gallons delivered was not a bad price.
This is just a topic for all of us to maybe share the good experinces we have had in our VW's(please keep it G rated)It always seems that when I go to the store some one stops me and tells me a story of memories they have had that included a VW.

I've always been very fortunate as well in that whenever a problem happened, it was right in my driveway, or really close to either home or help. I've also been helped out by a lot of kind folks along the way, and am fortunate enough now to be able to help out others. It's a great cycle...

I was driving down I-35 in Austin and ran out of gas. The fuel gauge was off by 1/4 of a tank and I never knew it. I had been trying to figure out what was wrong for 30 minutes when I took the cap off the gas tank and shook the car and realized it was only no gas. All that time nobody had pulled over. A couple in a bug pulled up right after I started to walk off and ran they me to the gas station. I wasn't able to give them any cash since I didn't have any on me. They ran me back to my car then took off while I filled up. About 2 miles down the road they were pulled over out of gas so I helped them get to the gas station and gave them the gas canister I had just bought and ran them back to their car. _________________ 1972 super
