I have a '53 with rotten driver and passenger doors. Will only doors up to '55 work? If so can later doors be retrofitted? Also am wondering what years cargo doors fit.

Later doors will fit both in the front and the cargo doors but are different of course and not correct.

Thanks for the imfo. Do you think it is feasible to rebuild my doors using parts of newer doors ? It's the bottoms that are gone on mine.Or am i better to find another set from a barndoor?I have several newer doors and the equipment to fabricate, cut, and weld them.

You could easily cut and weld the front doors as the only difference I'm aware of is the "finger indent" below the handle. The Barndoor has a very small and thin indent. As for the cargo doors, they are a completely different beast and certainly wouldn't be easy to do. Good luck.

There a bunch of restored Barndoors out there that have later doors where they just welded in the smaller indent.

The smaller indent can be cut out of a Beetle door.

The other difference is the 'check rod' in the door. I think from '64-67 is the years of the check rod/door stop, so those doors would need to be modified slightly..
