Has anybody attempted installing the actual ragtop upholstery to the header and bows with good results? have any pics of the actual install you wanna share? maybe some before and after shots? I do have a person down here that can do it (Jose Rodriguez in O'side) But I want to give it a try and see how it comes out.

It`s not that tough. I`ve done 2 buses and 2 bugs. On a bus, you want to make sure all the pieces are in right. The hardest part is the middle bows. Getting the screws and the thin metal strip on right and measureing the bow spacing from front to back.

Any specialty tools needed for the actual assembly? and does frame/bows need to be installed on the bus or do I assemble it off the bus then do the final fit on? Thanks

No special tools needed. Glue the front bow to the rag off the bus, slide front bow into the rails, put the top and bottom piecs of the front assembly together, clamp it down (Close the rag), slide the middle bows in, then put the rear together so the rag is tight, space out the middle bows then screw the rag to them. Thats just the basic directions.

Thanks Bryan67 for the quick break down. I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

Good luck. If you have the Bentley bus book I think it is in there. It was also in Hot VW`s several years ago. Maybe you can get a back issue.
