Does anyone have any good tips? I've read through my John Muir manual, and I'm pretty sure I know what to look for. I was just about to post the add but I guess he took it off. I'll try not to be too giddy, but I've never even come close to a bug before, besides seeing one drive by, so I'm quite excited. I may even get to drive one for the first time

1967. I'm sorry I don't have the pictures, but here's what he said about it.
"Last chance for my 67. I will take 1,200 for all my stuff. Wheels, parts, everything. Last chance, if it isn't gone by Christmas I am donating the car to science. Drives well, the motor runs well, once warmed up, brakes are all good, new steel and rubber lines, I had been driving it every weekend until, the last month or so. I Steering is also good, new steering damper. |

Awesome Thanks very much. I'm really excited just to touch one. The first time I saw a splitty I dropped everything, ran over and hugged it. |

Here's a link with what to look for:
http://www.thebugshop.org/gogallry.htm
Go to the "Tech Info" page and there is a section for what to look for when buying.
Good luck. |

Thanks. I just got back, I'm in love It took about 10 minutes to warm up, we started to test drive it, and it wasn't going. The guy did something, drove it around quickly than let us drive it and she ran great. Defenetly needs some rust work done, but nothing was rotted through except one part which he had a replacement for. The floor pans would need to be replaced too. This might be the one I'm pretty sure it's not going anywhere too soon, but in the next couple of weeks she could very well be mine |

Congratulations on the '67 find. Prety soon we'll need our own '67 forum!
Not to hijack this thread but while we are on the subject of our favorite year...
Hey Bill, can you tell me the month of my 117 776 566 sedan? I am also looking for any links or downloads (manuals etc) that have anything to do with the '67. Thanks in advance. _________________ 1964 Type 1 |

My dad said no Splitties But believe me, I have not given up on my splitty dream. It just won't be my first classic vw. I'm starting with a bug, and building up. I mean...nobody gets just one...right? |

The bug did have a wee bit of rust. The bumpers were pretty rusted, and there was some rust bubbling under the paint too. The front fender had a hole in it, but he had a replacement part. The floor pans in the back needed to be replaced too. There were quite a few little bits of surface rust throughout the car, but it didn't look too bad. The windows seals were chipping off too. I read that link and they were talking a lot about the heater channels, I know nothing about those, and he didn't mention it. |

I know just how you feel! I've been wanting one since I was in high school (about 25 years) and I've never been in one either!
Now I've got the approval of my husband and we're officially in the market for one...kinda. I have to sell my mini-van first and it's got a power steering leak. We're going to try to fix that and then sell it hopefully for about $3,000...hopefully that will be enough to put me in a fairly decent 60-67 Bug "daily driver".
And do you stop with just one? I am beginning to think not, because my husband is already talking about getting himself one!
