Attempted Beetle Theft
I work security at a downtown TV station - Im on the graveyard so I just park right in front of the station and watch it w/ a digi zoom camera. my desk is in front so I look up and there it is. So im sitting here getting paid to watch 'fashion file' when I here my dub start up then stop... I run out from behind and open the door as the fucker is screaming "woohoo" because the engine is fully engaged, I start freaking out and he gets out and runs away basically after that ( I would have slapped him silly if I wasnt built like a chopstick ) I called VPD and they came within serously 60 seconds and then I watched a half dozen squad cars rip past looking for the guy. hats off to VPD this time. He new what he was doing and came for this specific vehicle. he had it hotwired in seconds( they are soooo easy to wire ) he was 35ish and clean cut, well dressed not a junky. I know I was staked out but ............ I still have it !! |

You need some security devices to make it harder for someone to steal your car. You can also take some things off of it so it doesn't run W/O them. Let them look for something easier! _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

How about one of those locking steering wheel devices called "the club"? Although I imagine that you probably would have a bit more gratification with the other kind of club... LOL _________________

My car was stolen years ago.I always take the rotor out of the distributure when ever i park it out over nitght any were.I have a locking T handle on my decklid my car was broken into on a tuesday night they had been under the hood plaing with the wiring .Since there was no rotor in it they could,nt hot wire it.Well they came back friday between 2:30 am and 7:00 am and stole it i was thinking they brought some parts with them this time (wrong) .I got it back a couple of days later turns out the had wraped a rope around the frount bumper and draged it out of the apartment complex i lived in.They must have got spooked out they just left it in a nebor hood about a mile or two away .They had cut every wire under my hood trying to hot wire it but they never got the deck lid open to see that there was no rotor or coil wire on it.I now have a Berg locking shifter in it and a fake alarm i made its just a LED that you can turn on when you r not in it every little thing helps .I got a little carried a way here any way i hope my bad experence may help some one else. _________________ 63 rag under construction for 30 years and counting. |

a large dog often helps, failing that iv come up with a shotgun shell wired up to a rat trap, with a trip wire _________________ "its better to burnout, than it is to rust" Neil young |

get a stuffed bulldog from a taxidermist..... put it on the back seat...?? makes me want to put a really flash alarm in my bug...anyway i guess the police come fast if they know your car is a vw... how about a kill switch? i suppose you could hotwire the car even with one of those??? i dunno...how about you 'play' with the thief by putting an audio device in the car so that if someone tries to touch the car, it sounds like it is...heh...has anyone seen that film ''christine''? i saw a bit of it...that would be funny....lol |
