Nice hack job on the rear gate! |
Didn't late bays have a cutout to view the license plate? I've always been nervous about the hidden plate when driving the DC with the gates down like that...although that version is a bit extreme... _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

an old girlfrieds uncle took this photo. he was racing ferraris at the time. he said he thought it was at sebring in 1959. look carefully at the extended bed single cab. i think the porsche in the back is either a 550A or an RS60. i tried to track down rennstall bunker, no luck. i'm not the best sleuth. anyone wanna try? the side if the pickup says rennstall bunker/art's sports and utility motors. i can't read the address but the phone# says JA3-5104, kansas city, mo (i pity the person who has this number now!) let me know how you make out and send along any info you have. remember, i am NOT responsible if you call these people and they get pissed off. this photo is public domain.

Art Bunker of Art's Sports Motors and later Art Bunker Porsche and Audi dealership was the driver of the 72 car and according to the 1959 Sebring results, it was a Porsche 718 RSK and Art is listed as a Reserve driver. Rennstall is German for racing stable so the gate says Bunker Racing Stable. Gotta love Google. _________________ Shawn

Bays didnt have a cutout for the plate, just the tail lights. _________________ -Bryan

I mean the U-shaped hack job in the center, not the taillight holes. Look close! _________________ How to Post Photos

Yeah, I saw that...I noticed the stretched one above has a cut out as well...looks like it was to clear the nose & maybe ramps...
Cutting out that much has to make it super-floppy, though, and it doesn't look like they reinforced it...
nice jerry can racks on the side gate also... _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!
