Your 91 already is several inches lower than our pre 88's, but check EBAY, there is a group hocking springs for Vanagons that will lower it more
its actually only a matter of springs, then re aligning the front end so it wont look like some stupid hack/chop job like the SoCal low riders seem to have the market on!
Nothing worse than a hack job that eats tires ever 500 miles because the owner is either too stupid or too ignorant to get the front end re set.
And the same goes for the lifted SUV's.... _________________ Retired attorney--Tort King. |

You are right they are gone! I looked also. Someone sucked those up fast. I think he wanted 199- and was in the PacWest. 88-91 lowering springs.
Watch the auctions on ebay, they come up once in a while. I personally find thesamba $$$$
I need a trannie for a fox wagen, prefer a 5 speed. Guy wants 400 bucks to send me one from the east, whereas, I can go to Pic a Part in Fresno and get one for less than 40 bucks on 1/2 off sale....IF I WANT TO PULL it myself that is.... _________________ Retired attorney--Tort King. |

I believe CIP1's kit is just the factory height style spring for 88-91 anyway, isn't it? Please correct me if I'm wrong. But 88-91 vanagons ride WAY better on the highway than previous models. |

I think Tire Rack sells H&R sport spring or Eibach. I think those are the only two who make sport lowering springs for the Vanagon. |

I run the H&R lowered springs on my 88 vanagon... it definitely drops about 1.5-2".... looks nice, but you sacrifice the ride a little (over bumps or potholes)... it does improve handling and corners...hehe Make sure you get the re alignment... i didn't and it did wear down the fronts after a year and half.... also, the alignment shop will only be able to do so much... so either way you will wear down the front tires quicker than the rear...but should last longer.... I was once gonna set it up with passat 17" rims... let me know if you (or someone else) needs the spacers (10mm) and lugs(43mm)..or any info regarding that wheel mod... 17x7.5 et45

I installed H & R springs recently, then took them out. Anyway, the fronts aren't as easy as the rear. Rears about 20 minutes a side. Expect to remove a lot more stuff to allow the lower control arm low enough to take the old springs out/new springs in.
If you need help let me know. I'm in Seattle too. |
