My '71 had been sitting for about 6 weeks, so I decided to drive it and get some gas and enjoy the day. Upon starting, I smelled gas. I turned it off, looked in the back, and it seemed my hoses were leaking where they meet at the fuel pump. I trimmed off an inch or so and put both hoses back on the pump. I started it and ran around to the back, only to see gas dripping out again. It looks like the pump body was leaking right in between the two hoses where the top and bottom meet. I ordered another pump from Bus Depot for gen type and the plunger thingy doesn't stick out as far as on my existing one does. That means the rod will not even touch it, right? Should I have gotten the alternator model? Just order a $1 pushrod from the Depot? My pump doesn't appear to come apart to rebuild either. What to do. Thanks alot. _________________ 1970 Kombi |

Looking at various online vendors, the only differentiation I see is between the generator & alternator push rods, and no other different models. Even though your bus has a generator, it might have had an alternator pump on it previously. You could always take the old push rid with you to T-Hoff and compare it with the ones they have in stock, before ordering another one. _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!
