This is a professional photograph, probably for the architect or builder.
Normally, tall buildings appear to taper towards the sky. It requires a PC (perspective control) lens to keep the vertical lines vertical and parallel like this. Usually it's a 4x5 view camera, but there are specialty PC lenses for SLRs, so that's possible, though unlikely.
Also, the lighting is brilliant; no blown highlights, and just enough shadow detail. there is evidence of taillight streaks at the right side, and the traffic light has more than one bulb lit. So this was probably a combination exposure, plus long shutter speed.

Yes, definitely very professional work. Here's the caption that went with it:

The very long exposure caused all passing cars to "disappear"! Think about it- if you keep the lens open for, say, 1/2 minute, passing cars would simply travel through the shot and only have the thin telltale streaks of their taillights if not caught when the shutter closes. If there was a traffic light on the left down the street, the cars would partially "fade in" as they stopped. About 20 years ago a guy in our office team who was an avid hobby photographer* mentioned, that if you have a city street scene with lots of people walking, if you set the camera lens for a few minutes' exposure, the people would all walk into and out of the frame; thereby "disappearing". This could potentially leave just the "empty" sidewalks and the adjacent parked cars. *He'd go to the local pro photo shop on its camera demo day (Bergen County Camera in Westwood, northern New Jersey), and walk out with a $5000 Nikon, etc!
"Perspective control lens": When I edit photos which I post here in Photoshop (every single one I download or post gets "something") on my computer, I sometimes adjust the taper-in on background buildings from the lens perspective by pulling each side outwards slightly with the function "Image-transform-distort" until a side edge of the building is vertical and not tilted. There's also a function for "perspective" which has the effect of evenly raising or lowering the camera lens. |

Norway Circa 1955-6, someone on reddit identified the Peugeot sitting at the pumps as a 1955. _________________ I have learned over the years.

You grab two pills from the bus driver's front pocket, and take a toke from the pipe holder in the first seat on the left. Then hang on for the mystery ride. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |
