I was wondering if anyone has converted the pop top area of a 73 westy into a sleeping area.. I just got this bus and you cannot sleep up top. I was wondering if there are any ideas on how to also make that a bed? Is it strong enough to support a lot of weight.

I assume you currently have a cot?

I think it takes some hacking and welding to make it into a full bed. I've seen it discussed before. Try searching.

dude in the campsite next to me at Everybus had modded the top of his '69 so he could sleep up top. just a sheet of plywood or some such, as i recall, but his head would come out the screen when he slept up top. cool rig, not at all unreversible, nothing you couldn't do in your backyard.

Somebody put instructions on type2.com I THINK.
If you can't find it, I'll look in my favorites.

One of these days....
