I have a speedometer that matched this one:

http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=113957021

I was wondering if anybody knew where i could buy bulbs to put in it? Maybe advance or somebody would carry a dash bulb I could pop in.

Thanks!

You can get them from lots of on line sources, including WW, but I doubt your FLAPS would have them.

Oreilly's is the only local auto parts store I have ever found them at.

Of course they'll probably only have the 12volt ones. You didn't say if you needed 6 or 12v. If you need 6v, you'll probably have no choice but to get them online.

50 bucks for those 6 led light bulbs is fukin CRAZY

OReillys has the 12v ones in stock, they can order the 6v ones. Check superbrightleds.com for cheaper bulbs, that guy selling them in the classifieds is on crack.

HAH! I think I found the bulbs that guy is selling, 89 cents each. Not sure if they work with reverse polarity though

But they are also the only reverse polarity bulbs available for the 3 you need reverse polarity for with no additional wiring required except for an exciter that's needed for an alternator light.

Eh...not really. The mark up is very minimal. Unlike some of the VW stuff I'm sure you've purchased before Confused

I honestly don't make a whole lot off these.

I went to O'rilleys with those numbers and they couldn't find anything.

Can anybody give me a more specific number?

Thanks!

You want me to pick a pack up and ship it to you? I know for a fact they have them at the Oreilly up the road. They are labeled 14.4 volts but they work just the same, couldn't find the package in the garage or I would get you the exact bulb number.

The numbers in the picture above (se1274) come up just fine when searching on their website.

You just got a worker that obviously doesn't know how to work a computer. I'll give the worker the benefit of the doubt that they didn't have any in stock and that's why he couldn't find them in the store, but he should have been able to find them in the computer. Go back and ask for somebody different.

I know this is an older forum but just in case someone is reading this for bulb information, the speedometer illumination uses a BA7S bulb base and you want a 2Watt or greater. Most of them are 1.2Watt and that is why they are dim. Most LEDs with this base are not worth purchasing because they have a directed light. You want light that spreads. If you want to try an LED look on Amazon for the ones that have a square chip that is exposed; non-focusing. DO NOT GET BA9S as these will not fit; too large.
Another bulb number is 3898 and this has the same dimensions as the original BA7S (VW N177222). See attachment. Shop around because you can find these bulbs for $0.30 each or $5.63 each.
