I hope someone can help me the problem i have is i am having the interior restored on my splitty and when they do the headliner they need to take the side windows out the seals are v. old and will need replacing i must get the right ones.
What has thrown me is:

1. when i measured the hole in the top to replace the pop top with a sun roof the chap at paris beetles said the size of the hole was different to westy holes and he said the corners would be rounded off but they are square.
2. there is no badge on it to say it is a westy conversion and the pop top has a badge on it from TRAVEL EQUIPTMENT CORP ELKHART INDIANA.

i have taken the info off the plate behind the front seats this is as follows

30 9

425 002 013 025 043 114

UA 2312 383883 603 4920

i was hoping i could find out more with these numbers as someone told me there is some where on the net where there is a register that tells you loads of original info on your bus.

I may have some kind of rare version of a SO42 Westifalia turret top Conversion

if anyone thinks they may be able to help i have photos i can email to you

any help you can give me would be fantastic

Kind Regards

That poptop was sometimes found on Riviera conversions (which typically have a long window on the drivers side) and also found on Sportmobile conversions I believe. I think Sportmobiles had white formica surfaces on the camping bits. Put some pics in here, or put them in the gallery, somebody will be able to point you in the right direction, assuming the camper interior is still there. Doesn't sound like a westy to me. Pictures would help a whole lot because Rivieras did use that kind of pop top now and then. Do you have that big picture window? What does the interior look like?

As far as I know......
Westfalia could not supply enough split bus campers to the US. So a LOT of small outfits started doing them. Here are a few:
Sundial
EZ Camper
Roadrunner
ASI [Riviera]
Travel Equipment Corp.
Sportsmobile

You do NOT have a Westfalia camper.

A lot of people say the long window on the drivers side means it is a Riviera. I have to diagree with that. I have a 67 Standard camper that has all the interior pieces made by EZ Camper AND the large picture window. From the research I have been doing over the past 5 years, the window was made by Travel Equipment Corp out of Elkhart Indiana.

This site says Rivieras were supplied with a Sportsmobile pop top courtesy of Travel Equipment Corp. but I don't understand that at all.
Maybe because Huntington Indiana is 80 miles SSE away from Elkhart Indiana?

Sportsmobile was a separate company out of Huntington, Indiana.

The Fresno site is 3 miles from me. But, alas, they have no literature left from the splitty days ;(

Travel Equipment Corp may still be in business. Nevada DMV uses code TRAS to distingush them: http://www.dmvnv.com/ivpvehmakes.txt

Here is a pic of my 67 drivers side:

here was another 67 EZ Camper that was on ebay. Look at the window.

The one difference I have noticed about EZ Campers is the rear edge of the rear mattress. All others are cut straight across. EZ's are notched for the latch. I had the person that was selling the 67 EZ on ebay send me a pic of the rear mattress edge, but I cannot locate it on my computer. Here is a pic of my edge: [buses make good storage sheds!]

The long one-piece window on the drivers side is Riviera only deal! It is NOT Sundial or EZ.

Prove IT!!!

I have been reseaching mine for 5 years and all the people that say it is Riviera cannot not back it up with any proof.

I have heard and seen nothing but BS and 'a friend of a friend told a friend of a friend' crap. Bullsh!t talk.

I have a EZ Camper with it and the one I posted a pic from ebay was 100% EZ camper.

I think Karl is right cuz Ive never seen a Riviera with those type of slat louvres on the long window on any true Riviera. There is a couple of this style bus running around Northern Calif. but Ive never talked shop with any of them so I really dont know who the manufacturer is.
