The obvious answer is to get rid of those mal-formed headers and get some that fit ...

The bug will always be NA. I love the vintage raw feel and sounds. I do have plans to turbo the rail in the future though. (I've already put sealed bearings in the carbs, a step in prep for blow through)

Here's a photo of my sled tin that I trimmed with tin snips to clear the merged header. One advantage of having a narrow merged header is that it makes it easier to remove the valve covers to do valve adjustments and also moves the hot pipes away from the head itself, keeping head temperatures lower (it's also in the air flow stream for further heat radiation reduction):

Use the Berg headers. No need to trim your sleds and will clear your thermostat. You can also use Bergs industrial shields to close off the sides of the sleds. Just something to think about.

I've used 40 horsepower sled tins on a 1,955cc with a Kymco merged header. They require VERY little trimming...I did it with a file. Sorry, no pics...

I think Tiger can also supply J-tubes with the Sidewider. At least that's what he told me last year. I intend on running the industrial tins too.

I hear ya...but GBE doesn't make a 1 3/4" header that clears the thermostat, sled tin and apron...so those of us who like to race with this size header are out of luck. GBE does make a 1 5/8" header that is sometimes in stock...

It you consider having to buy the part twice because the first header did not fit right or last long. Then it is well worth it in my book. I'm talking from experience. Save a little more and buy the best and cry once.

Why?
What makes you so special that you can request free information that others then cannot view?

Didn't get the answer he wanted I imagine. When someone advises you to buy a quality made part people here get pissed. Strangest lot I have ever come across.

Some people need the balls to say "this is what I've got to work with, so help me work it out" and not get so butt-hurt when naysayers object.

Kudos to The Noof and Neil68 for answering the question and posting up pics of a solution that might be useful to others!

Question is in the topic. There are a few useful posts but most are BS as is the standard here as of late. I dont need to be told BUY GENE BERG. If the question was what header to buy that would be great info but it was not.

My butt does not hurt at all just tired of the BS you get around here when you ask a simple question. If you dont have info pertaining to the post. I would guess some people just want to post something useful or not.

Hell i even like thread jackers who have some fun.

Smile

What is the problem in asking the mods to delete a post that is not of any use to anyone. Just take up room on EB server.

So thanks for the posts that did not pertain to the topic... oh my butt hurts...ohohohohoh.

Some people may have the same question that could be answered in a search. If you don't want people to read your posts and answer honestly don't post.
