If and when these pop up in the US can everyone be sure to update this thread?

Part #211711115A

so it's too difficult to go to the link I posted, hit buy, pay with paypal and wait 3 days for it to turn up in your mailbox?

are you waiting for one in the USA to walk over to you?

I just did a huge order from the UK...with customs etc I had a huge box here in 5 days...not bad seeing I placed it Saturday afternoon their time. I will never understand why people are freaked out about overseas purchases.

fwiw....even with shipping I was able to buy double the parts for less than 1/2 the money. what vendors wanted 200 for here I got in the UK for 65....

Well for starters, I did try your link but the $67 dollars in shipping costs was unacceptable to me, especially considering I've purchased from UK sellers with way less in shipping costs.

2nd, I prefer to support people locally and in the hobby who offer quality parts. Its why I've purchased many things from people here on thesamba and from the list of venders in the FAQ (in fact I've probably made purchases from 90% of the vendors listed). In fact when it was announced that this part was available from a member here in this thread, I immediately asked how I could purchase it, unfortunately my question was left unanswered.

So no, I don't have an issue purchasing from foreign sellers nor do I have a problem paying for quality parts (ask me how much I just paid for a new cold start valve) but I will not be fleeced or sold something priced cheaply only to be marked up in shipping costs.

The boot appears to be back in stock. I ordered one, the total including shipping was under $18USD.

I'm still waiting for it to arrive though. Does anyone know how to track orders from VW heritage?

Mine came in today (technical 3 days ago), I had to sign for it and usps only made one attempt.

So does this basically butt against the shift coupler? There is a whole in the rubber as if it was meant to allow a bolt or screw threw it. Does anyone have pics of it installed?

The original shift couplets had a tombstone profile to fit the boots perfectly. I can’t speak for aftermarket couplers.

Good news! I haven’t heard from AirHead yet, but BusDepot got back to me today and already listed it on their website. They won’t be in stock for another 3 weeks according to Fred, but we can finally put this thread to rest!

it slides over the nosecone and the grub screw comes thru the hole.

So what you are saying is that unless you have an OG coupler, this boot is useless? Uh...

Does this aftermarket coupler look more like the original coupler?

Were original couplers marked with a part number?

Can I resurrect this thread? I am looking for the part too - 211 711 115 A. Is it really only available from Europe?

Someone emailed us today and requested that we start carrying these. We ordered some and they should be here in a few weeks.

Thanks Ron and Fred!

ivwshane: your coupler should fit fine, the rubber will stretch around the new coupler, or compress down to allow a socket to visit the grub screw. The exact dimensions are less important than a snug fit.

newer VW couplers don't have the tombstone.

I went and purchased the empi HD coupler and the boot fits it perfectly.

I found a good used tombstone coupler, put it in tonight with the new rubber boot. PITA to get on with such tight quarters but it works great. Looks like the safety wire will also work with it.

Steve, how about some pics/links so the rest of us know what you’re talking about?

The rubber boot kept tearing. Robbie earlier in the thread suggested using a tombstone mount like below. I got a good used VW one. The rubber boot fits tightly over it but it is a PITA to put on in such a tight space. Maybe next time if there is one I'll use some silicone grease to help it on.
