Noticed a stronger than normal gas smell, outside of the van today after filling 3/4 of the tank at the station today.
Checked cap, the fill tube to the fuel filter and pump and back towards the lines up to charcoal filter. Any ideas on where to look or what to inspect?
Any help is much appreciated. |

Your crossover tank line might be the culprit
Fill it next time and check for spills _________________ 82 westy

Yeah, when you pull up to pump, make sure the ground is dry right behind fuel tank in center of van.
Fill up, wait a minute or so, and check under the van for fuel leaks.
This will now be your standard operating mode... |

Check the evap tanks in the front wheel wells. I had a broken hose on the top (out of sight). Too see where the smell comes from exactly, you need to diag-nose _________________ '90 Little Blue Truck, 2WD auto, FAS GenV 2.0 NA (AVH) |

| I had a rodent chew a hole in one of my evap system lines. I found the leak by using a makeshift device to blow air into the gas tank and followed the hissing sound. |

| Thank you all, I will check the lines again. The evap tanks of the filler neck was my next guess. |

A smoke machine is a great tool for this situation. _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

| Gas smell went away, added 5 more gallons and no smell again. I however want to start thinking of swapping the expansion tanks. |
