It should be saved, it is rarer than most Barndoors and they are building back many Barndoor buses that are way worse than this. They make the whole new roof sections now with a sunroof hole with or without skylight holes. A porto power can straighten up the bent pillars. This bus is a high hinge mango sunroof standard and those to not pop up very often. |
Agreed, that’s worth saving. Far more interesting and rarer bus than a run of the mill barn door panel or and no one would even blink an eye about saving one of those in even worse condition.

Prices seem high for most of them. I doubt they hold the same level of appeal to non bus people with money vs with bus people with not so much money. I had a 65 sunroof standard for years, my son has it now, and I prefer it to a window bus.

I agree the price of most of these seem high, the 65 walk through up in Washington sold in less than 2 weeks after it was posted. The asking price on that one was $35,000 and it needed typical rust repair, rockers, floors, etc...

Here's my new addition. I don't believe it's on the registry yet. I've posted in a few other forums, but not this one yet.
It's now a driver, waiting on the interior kit and the rear seat to be brought back to an 8 seater. It will need some attention at the bottom of both b-pillars and at the cargo door floor where the rods go in, other than that, very solid!

I’m pretty sure that is a real deal sunroof standard and not insanely priced, just a huge project with all the hacks, missing seats and rust. The seller also doesn’t have a title in his name. He told me he bought it and got a title but the prior owner signed it in the wrong place and he went back to get it signed in the correct spot and the seller is now deceased.

This mouse grey sunroof standard bus popped up on Facebook today. It was listed for sale by a junkyard in El Paso, TX for $6,500. I would love to own it and called and spoke to the yard owner, but he told me he prefers to sell it to someone who can see it in person because it is quite rusty. He also told me he had a guy on his way with a trailer and cash in hand.

Holy shit that is it about as killer as bus can get. I mean, year/model/color. The rust, cut bulkhead, and missing everything part is not so killer…
