I tried to replicate the original the best I could and used contact adhesive in a can with a brush. I think a spray would have been much easier though.
As you can see from the original one above it was glued clear across. Over the years the vinyl shrinks and usually pulls the sharp bottom corners up only staying stuck to the flat top surface. I traced an original onto paper then the paper onto the fresh vinyl. A few adjustments still had to be made to fit properly. It depends on the heat of your vinyl, tray, glue, etc.
I did the front (back of the parcel tray) first and did the bottom the next day. The whole process took me weeks which is ludicrous since they probably did it start to finish in three minutes at the factory… Laughing

My July 59 deluxe was 2 peices although the bottom peice was shredded up so I carefully removed what was left of it and used it as a template. I then used the front bottom portion of my og front bench seat material which was a perfect match and brushed contact cement on the tray and material. It's been on there for over 5 years now no shrinkage although the material used is 64 years old.

No stitching.

It's glued together along the whole length though, where it connects the bottom/storage area piece to the back piece.

I do have this tray here so I can take more pics if needed.

This is a great thread. Here’s my parcel tray after I recovered it…not perfect but I like it.
