Hi everyone, The new owner of the old VW Warehouse wants to make a salvage yard but all the VW's are making him crazy, he wants them gone, he is going to start crushing things shortly. The good part of this is he is sympathetic to our cause and has been selling cars whole, many have titles. I took some pictures. there are some parts lying about the property. doors rear frame yokes some hoods and a bunch of fuel injected engines. (Having a problem posting photos of vehicles, I may have to resize later ) give Larry a call for more information. 272 446 7495

Damn, we need to swoop in and save those parts.
Hope someone of means is close enough to do just that. |

Those pics give me nightmares. I've done a barn clean up, and a body shop clean up (both places were for sale and needed everything gone). I loaded up 3 or 4 pick up trucks worth of stuff (each at both places), and hauled it home, then unloaded it all. I filled one side of a 2 car garage that ended up getting moved again just to have the garage back. I think I hauled out 10 complete engines (most were seized due to rust). I vowed never again, and I've been trying to stick to that.
Those pics also remind me of Russ Fest, were my wife and I helped Russ re-organize his shop before he passed. That took a solid week of moving stuff. After doing that I started getting rid of stuff, as I didn't want my wife having to deal with all of those parts after I passed. I know it's a morbid thought, but it's a lot of stuff to go thru, and I have enough junk around here. And most of those kind of deals are take it ALL or none of it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I think more people need to think about it. I've seen quite a few "collections" get picked apart by vultures, or completely scrapped after the person suddenly passed. We never know when we're gonna go. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

Tell me about. In July 2020 I had a heart attack (@59 a widow maker, and got 2 stents put in), followed 6 days later by a stroke. That was a wake up call, as it took me a good 6 months to get back where I could do some stuff. As it is, I've still got a ton of work I need to do, but I'm still having "good days and bad days" even after all this time. I've thinned out a bunch of projects, and have taken on a more of a consultant type of position. I'll still get my hands dirty, but it just takes me a little longer to get things done. I've been mainly concentrating on keeping my wife's beater going, as it still gets used 24-7-365, and is barely standing still to get the oil changed.
And those 2 "collections" that I picked up, were semi-close by (within 10 miles from my house). I'd hate to have to drive 100 or more miles to pick up someones collection of parts, and make multiple trips just to do it.
It's one thing to pick up a project, or some parts for a project, and quite another to pick up a collection of stuff that may or not be good. I mean I've been out to get something, and add to it before, and have people just give me stuff, because they know they'll never use it, or know I'll use it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I wonder what's left of the 411-412? Most of the rest of it looks like typical East coast, or salt belt stuff. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I've also been trying to thin the herd of parts. Unfortunately, there's not much demand for Type III parts, and trying to save the good parts from there looks to be time consuming, with little to be gained financially or salvagable parts either way.
Still cool to see the pictures of the cars that are still left out there. I remember a similar looking place back in the 80's that I went to an auction at. _________________ 69 Fastback |

By golly would like to have a square roof rack like shown in the photos.
Just to far to go. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.
