Went on a 900 mile road trip in 16 hours on Good Friday. LA to Oakland to Folsom to LA. Picked up a really nice chunk of engine metal out of the classifieds. The right battery tray is going to need a little repair but that is child's play for Jason. Before you get all righteous and say how correct to you want your car? The metal is from a 64 so it has the bigger motor opening. My original plan was to try and keep it stock with the 36HP opening but I can't find the latch panel and the one piece seal channel is tough to get too. I know Gabfab makes them but he is out of stock for a while. I don't ever plan on putting a 36er in it so this is the best way to move forward. Jason will cut it down to a useable piece, have American blast it and coat it, do the necessary repairs then install it in one piece. There is a lot of bonus stuff with this clip the doesn't have to be fabbed up... the battery supports and the bumper supports. Plus I can say that it's all German metal.
Jason and I got to talking about the noses repair and he assured me it was a piece of cake. He has a die for his bead roller that has the correct profile for the nose ridge. Here are some pics of a previous repair he has done. As you can see, it is in good hands!

That's a great looking engine bay section. Once it's installed most people won't even know the difference and it looks way better that the new reproduction center section. So good to see this project moving forward  |

Sooooo, we are using my old battery trays? Looks like you are going to slide the seal channel in between my trays and attach the latch panel to the apron. Can't wait to see it blasted and clean! What about the bumper supports?
