Hello Friends, I am having issues with my fuel pump on my '73 Squareback. I've tried three pumps and gone through all of the cleaning procedures posted here. No luck. All three pumps are noisey and I can only get minimal pressure from them . They are the correct pumps for an FI car. I'm interested in going the Ford Ranger 2.3l route. Has anyone done this? Do I need a check valve? Stock pressure regulator? How is it plumbed into the system. How is the return dealt with? Any advice or other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

Do a search of the forum for ranger fuel pump. I'm sure there are at least 3 or more threads dealing with it. My wife's 70 Fastback got that conversion back in 2008 when I returned the car to FI. Basically, you'll remove the plastic "Y" and the hose from the pump, and run the return hose straight from the return tunnel line to the tank. I've found that it also helps to move the pump to the center opening in the beam, as it allows nice lazy bends of the hose. The new (Airtex E2000) pump (or good used ford) will fit right into the stock Bosch pump brackets. I hope this helps.

What pumps are you all using now that Airtex aren’t available now? I need one for my fastback.

I'm running an O'Reilly's Precision brand #020160 pump for an 86 to 90 Ford ranger frame rail pump (that's it's application). I saw in another thread someone was running a Carquest pump (from Advanced auto). Might be worth having a look for it. The poster said he paid 50 bucks for it. I hope this helps.
