a word to the wise, these panels are amazing but the fiberglass is crazy itchy. I would recommend wearing rubber gloves. Other than that they look fantastic. Basically did the whole bus interior less the front door cards for less than $60

What about the edges on the panels ? Are you putting anything to cover the raw edges?

I considered it till I used my track saw with a thin kerf blade to cut it. I am super impressed with the final edge. As long as i dont run into any issues i might just leave it like this.

I just got back from the Waterjet cutter shop and check out the fairing piece for the roof rack and the support pieces that go between the upper and lower hoops.

Well, strike #2 for the immobilizer key, I had a friend with Scanner that does advanced stuff try to program the new factory key. Now after this it doesnt run at all. So i believe i am down to two options.
Option 1- send the BCM, ECU, Key and Cluster to Subaru to be programmed
Option 2 send the whole batch to AGT and have him do it.
I emailed AGT and asked his advice. Since I had it running but the key would kill it i feel i am really close.
IF YOU DIDNT SEE MY MESSAGE ABOUT THE KEYS EARLIER. HERE IT IS AGAIN, ONLY ONLY ONLY USE FACTORY KEYS WHEN YOU GET AGT TO BUILD YOUR STUFF. I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING HAD I NOT WENT CHEAP AND GOT AFTERMARKET KEYS.

SO to keep myself busy i decided to continue of the interior. I put the panels on the walls and ceiling until i ran out of clips. Should have more by the end of the week. So I will start building the rear seats and cabinets.

I could resist mocking up the roof rack. This is going to be next level awesome!
I made sure the angles of the support are 30deg to match the rake on the windshield

So, I dont smoke crack but i do think in a very all over the place way. I was on the interweb just waisting time and came across these plates for the bay window. The reason I bring them up is it would solve the driveline angle dilemma I was having a couple of months ago by shifting the centerline of the hub back a bit which would reduce the driveshaft angle. Just saying for some of you doing the same build.

Glad to be back in the shop after a week off. This weekend is all about finishing the interior. Tonight I got about half of the bench built out of 3/4 birch faced plywood. Lots to do on it but it’s a start

re: the heim joint spring plate replacements above... if you value the lives of your passengers (and your own), i would advise against using / trusting iMohr ..
in theory, what they are making seems really cool, but in reality they do really sketchy stuff like crimp suspension parts.

the concept is valid though. for example, the CoolRydes rear suspension (for Type 1).

as you can see, those parts are noticeably beefier...and that's for a Beetle instead of a camper.

Good call, especially with a 2500 lb trailer.

Foam cut and ready for the upholstery tomorrow. I used 4 in foam in the rear section and 5 in for the bench. It’s a lot thicker than the stock but the end result for a more comfortable bed is well worth it. I’m not a young guy and I really like comfort.

So much work to get the interior completed. I decided to switch to black for the interior side panels (I sprayed them with adhesion promoter and then coated with rattle can satin black). This way they match the front door cards. The minwax is the color I used for the wood interior stains. While the curtains were being made i had magnets sewn into the lower corners to keep them tight against the wall for privacy.

Mark the rear seat off the todo list. For added security I added an aluminum plate on the front to keep the pad from shifting. I also added a third support leg since I am on the bigger than normal side. Tomorrow am I’m going to buy keys, ecm, bcm, and a cluster from a 2012 Outback with the 3.6. Hopefully it’s a decent price and condition. If it is I’m simply swapping them out for my non programed ones. Fingers crossed

On to the cabinet under the fridge. I’ll put cubbies on top and the bottom section will house the Espar heater, ac and regular heater. I know I know with such accurate technical drawings like this really bring it to life Very Happy
