So what do the British call going to the beach? In New Jersey we say “going down the shore”. In Maryland that say “going down the ocean”. Both a regional thing.

erm we call it - 'going to the beach' or 'going down to the beach' maybe 'going to the seaside' where we will claim our territory with a tartan rug, erect windbreaks and don our swimming costumes to go paddling and eat gritty sarnies...

In this part of New Jersey we just say we are going to the beach because we already live at the Shore |
