This may sound like sacrilege, but can just the bulbs be replaced with LEDs? Behind the lens I think you would not be able to tell. This would be on a 12v converted, semi-custom bug, not a correct restore. |

is this for a split window? no problems with using leds, and surely converting to 12v and customising would be more sacrilegious ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Not a real split window. A later model with Repop split window tail lights. |

get outta here!
only kidding. but you might be better asking in the 58-67 forum unless you're fitting semaphores as the indicators are going to need a relay that doesn't rely on current load...this thread might help

Chip B told me that some people have used his silver dollar bus lights in split beetles, with a little modification. He can also supply a nice LED compatible flasher.

Great guy to deal with, I've installed several of his kits over the years _________________ modok wrote:

Both 6 and 12-volt LED bulbs are available in both single and dual filament. I especially like them for brake lights, because they're instantaneous.
If you use them for turn signals, you must still use regular bulbs up front so the turn signal flasher will work. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

LED compatible flashers are easy to come by now. Novita EP34 or 35 from Autozone in the US are on the shelf, cheap and LED compatible. |
