|
|
I have a '67 Bus that I've just spent 2 hours trying to put a new speedo cable into, without success. I cannot get the wheel end of the cable to go thru the little hole in the front floor below the headlight bucket. Can anyone tell me if there is a trick to getting it in there? Or is it just luck I need to have? ![Sad](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

Sometimes you have to do that trick, but in reverse: get a wire up from below and into the cab, then attach it to speedo cable and gently pull back down.
Also, if you have aftermarket sheet metal in that area or the bus has been hit, the holes might not line up in a helpful way anymore.
At the wheel end, I had a grommet in there that had turned into a rock, and it needed carefully drilling out and some grunt work with brass rod to push out remnants. _________________ Craig K

This.
Sometimes you can fish a stiff wire up from underneath put a loop in the end of the wire in the cab tie a long piece of string to the wire pull the wire with the string back through from the bottom, tie the wheel end of the speedo cable to the string use the string to pull it through from the bottom
HOWEVER
Make sure the cable has already gone through the hole in your parcel tray because the speedo end of the cable won't go through that hole!
