Unlike the crazy and creative mods to VW38 #6, I find this East Block update pleasing and respectful to the original. If it were my car I might refurbish it just as it was, with the Russian parts. Layers of history! |

am I right in thinking perspex/acrylic was used in the windows/screen? |
That's right. That's how it translates from Lithuanian. I guess the window glass broke and whoever decided to replace it figured it would be easier to cut new panes from perspex. _________________ Check out my Facebook page: Volkswagen Prototypes. |

A very nice car with very good history.
A real thing!
If it would be mine, I would restore all technical components to original standard and preserve patina and actual (outside) color as much as possible.
First drive to Danzig and Kaliningrad, further on, to "Roof-Top-City".
That car has lived and should come back to LIFE!
Good luck!

Would you...?
Then you would have a car it has become, not the car it ever was, which is fine of course. But is it more interesting the way it is now, than in a (more) original condition?
Right now it's not very regonizable as a 82 year old KDF car, although it surely tells a nice and interesting story. I don't think it has much apeal in the condition it is now with all the modifications done. It might be cool for a while but is it something you would like to own more than as a restored KDF car? Besides that, it doesn't have an interior at this moment, so it will at least need that to be useable again.
Luckely there is still a lot of the original car left, so it seems logical to honour and use that. |

i think i am somewhere in between. I would restore the car, simply because there are so few of them. and it will look cool in richard's garage. i would, however, keep all the parts like the fenders, etc. They should be part of the history. _________________ regards

He mentioned on his Facebook page he had no plans (yet) to do anything with it at that certain moment. I guess he might have developed some plans now.
In his collection there are restored and unrestored cars but except this one, they are all in, or restored back to their original condition. |
