|

Hi all,
This is the nose cone and hockey stick I used on my previous bus years ago, it was for a type 1 rear swing axle. On my current bus build, a 61' Im doing similar type 1 rear but Ive converted to IRS. Is this the same nose cone or do I need something else?
Thanks in advance,

Should just be a type 2 nose cone. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

Gottcha, thats what Im thinking.
I used this one before, but Im not sure if swing and IRS are the same bolt pattern, Im thinking this is the correct one to use for a bus to IRS conversion. Just wanted to make sure, additionally, I see no other options on the market process of elimination and looking around Id say this is the right one? I know I need the hockey stick regardless but the nose cone, fairly sure... confirm? |

You can essentially turn a swing axle trans into an IRS. The case is basically the same. So type 2 nose cone will fit both conversions. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

Hello all!
My IRS conversion kit is fully installed, and I have an IRS fully rebuilt trans ready to go in, alongside new shift rod tubes from WW.
I am sorting through my random bug IRS and bus parts as this is a conversion and I am curious what parts I'll need to mount the IRS trans (Yes, it has a bus nose cone and hockey stick) check!
I had this front transmission mount which looks to be universal "cradle" which fits the bus frame just right:
I have trans mounts, but they are cheap so I will buy new ones.
I am curious, the photos above of the solid metal trans to frame mount, is that one ok, or should I be using one like this, one solid metal, one metal and rubber or polyurethane?:
LAST question.
Is there a washer for the large transmission carrier mount bolts? I have some on there currently but they are a bit wacked and not sure if they are meant to be there.
Thanks all. ! |

Yes the large cradle bolts take washers. Also the solid mount will transmit a lot of noise to the inside of the bus. So unless you’re building a race bus go with the Wolfsburg West mount.
A point to note and research here is the shape of the replacement front shift rod. Compare it to the stock one you removed and see if it’s the same. People have been having issues with them. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

Sounds all good thanks! Damn, I wish I had a stock shift rod, my 61' really came with almost nothing, so fingers crossed it's correct. I'll definitely get the WW trans mount, I had a feeling this solid steel one would be a bit harsh. |
