Thanks Bob.
I learned a few tips on how to polish aluminum from the time I’ve spent in the BMX community. I do use Mother’s, but prefer Blue Magic metal polish cream.
A common technique is to use the Charmin toilet paper that has the red label. No wood fibers supposedly.
Did a quick test fit of the driver side door panel. This kit came with the car, and had sat around quite a while. Looks like they’ll do just fine.

Happy Easter indeed!
I hooked up my "lonewolf 2000" (yes, I watch ViceGripGarage) and remotely turned the engine over after cleaning the points and setting the gap in the dizzy.
Got a quick backfire and cloud of black smoke, so I checked and sure enough the spark plug wires were off. Basically had to move them all one notch counter clockwise and had them in the right spots.
Then I turned it over again and it fired off, ran a few seconds, stuttered, ran some more, then shut down. I'd call that a win in my book. Had some smoke coming from the exhaust for a while afterward, so I'm worried about what might have crawled into it while it sat outside at the previous owner's house. I'll likely be replacing the heater boxes with a header and exhaust eventually, as it all looks to be original and in pretty bad shape with rust and pin holes.
Too bad I can't post a video here.

I can't remember, are you running carbs, or FI? If FI, then your injector timing might be off. If carbs, you might need to put some more advance in the ignition timing.
I like watching Derrick too, but sometimes he's a little hard to understand, as pointed out by Dirt-head Dave (from Dirt Everyday).
You might try posting a video on U Tube, then linking it here. Just a thought.
Sounds like you had a good Easter regardless. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Hey Bob, yes, mine is still fuel injected.
I've done just that and created a SHORT YouTube video. I've added the link above. Don't judge, it's the first step of many to come, but I'm still super stoked to have gotten this far with it.

When you can’t find them, you have to make them. I’ve looked around and the old EMPI 8-spoke center caps never seem to pop up anywhere. So I purchased a close substitute, painted it silver, and ordered some stickers. Looks good enough for who it’s for.

I think I bought some of those center caps in chrome from CIP, for my polished 8 spokes for my wife's Fastback. They had them in stock at the time, which worked out well for me. What I ended up doing was using the Wolfsburg crest center sticker (raised plastic style) which gave the center cap a "finished" look. I know all about using the wrong center caps for old rims though, as I'm using some old chrome and blue Cragar center caps (chromed plastic) on my 36 spoke Shelby rims, since I never got the center caps for those rims when I got them (they came with a bug I bought). They look good on there.
Yours look good for what they are. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Hey Bob, that’s not a bad idea. Something like this maybe?
Finished up the other three caps. Not perfect, but definitely fills the void.

I’ll stick with the EMPI stickers for now. Maybe add some clear coat down the road to keep them from peeling off.

Jumping 10 steps forward and test-fitting the door panels. They fit perfectly. The only thing I needed to do was figure out the location of the three holes needed to mount the armrests.
Since I had already done the driver side, I removed it and traced the holes on the drinker’s side. Eazy peazy.

It looks good. I was going to mention that the captain's side looked like it had an air pocket in it, but that's now been removed since you had it off and used it as a template for the holes on the drinkers side. You're gaining on it, and it's going to look good too, once you're done with it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
