| Buyers beware!!Gus will ghost you once the money clears escrow!!! The buses he sells look cosmetically nice but mechanically terrible, everything from the steering, fuel gage, speedo/odometer, gas pedal, window seals, transaxle and motor have all been painted to look new but all needed to be rebuilt/replaced on the bus I bought from him in September. He is a total crook DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE. Gus is a total fraud and scam artist. I have pictures to prove everything I have said. He ignores emails, voicemails and texts once the money changes hands. It's costing me over $9K to fix the bus I was promised was all refurbished. |

I wish I seen this before buying from Gustavo....
This is complete scam operation. Unfortunately he comes across like a legitimate businessman, but lying and a dishonest front men for his crooked partners in Brazil.
The photos and the videos were looking amazing (with a reasonable price) but after receiving the bus the paint job looked immediately horrible (almost transparent) and showing through the undercoat. Putting the bus in an inside, heated storage for the winter, suddenly huge cracks started to appear, then large chunks of the improperly finished bondo started simply dropping of the not professionally prepared metal underneath. I feel like a fool for falling to victim to these scam artists like Gustavo and his partners, I should have learned that "...If something seems too good to be true, it probably is not!" Stay away and spread the news - Buses N Bugs is a scam operation taking advantage to naive VW bus lovers...

This outfit - and Gustavo - are a shameless criminal organization.
They developed a successful scam to rip of naive VW bus lovers and getting away with it. I contacted a lawyer, but the costs to stop these ruthless scammers is unfortunately much more than fixing up the poorly restored bus I purchased from them. The pictures, the video looked flawless and the price seemed reasonable. After less then six months large chunks of bodo along with paint are falling off the stationary bus and the shoddy, rusty, unprofessional work under exposing itself.
Stay away from these criminals and save your money. Vw buses and bugs lures you in and you are screwed as there is no recourse. I am also preparing materials, documents and photos to send to the Texas Attorney General Consumer Protection Branch that may result forcing to close their Houston operation.
Unfortunately the dishonest crook Gustavo Schmidt and his criminal gang behind him in Brazil may open up under a different name to continue their deceptive act to rip off unsuspecting Samba lovers...

Just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart to all that have posted the true nature of Busses n Bugs with Gustavo!!!
I was about to purchase one of the busses there....feeling excited about it...then fortunately came across your posts. Big thanks for the pictures too.
Very sorry for your horror and costs with this guy! My heart goes out to you but your efforts to post your experience has saved me!!!!
Disappointed they looked so nice, right.

I just purchased a bus from Buses N Bugs. I found several issues that needed addressed. Gustavo Schmidt did replace the battery and generator because we couldn’t even drive it when it was shipped from Houston to PA.
Here’s what I sent to him about the issues I found so far.
1. Side Mirrors don't stay adjusted (this won't pass inspection and I will have to replace them).
2. 4 windows leak and will require new replacement seals. I sent videos that showed which ones were leaking via text and noted this issue twice in the texts.
3. Right tail light and brake light does not work (this won't pass inspection and we will have to troubleshoot why - either the wiring or bulbs)
4. There is visible rust in several places as well as proof of bondo or filler being used. This is the most concerning issue as he listed in the email that the "bodywork properly done (rust-free/no Bondo). There are a variety of areas where a magnet will not stick to the 'metal' on this bus. False advertising!
I also asked him about the reviews that I saw on this site after I put the money in escrow and he said that they are from people trying to ruin his business and that it’s impossible to get in touch with anyone who submitted a review.
He’s also blocked me from their site on Facebook and removed my comments.
Buyer beware. My experience matches everything that others have posted here. I’ll add to this post if I find additional issues. |
