I put disks on my 70 and never regretted it. I have the Type Ekit for the 65 and wil put it on this summer. I've seen no complaints about it. _________________ Craig K

E&B - I checked and it does appear to have the dog house. Photo attached here. |
Great!! You are missing seals, so will need to collect those up, but you have all the tin pieces. When you drop the engine that will be a must to get in the seals.
When you drop the engine it would be a good time to check fan width. Dog house used the widest fans, and using earlier thinner fans does not do well for the engine with the DH cooling. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Okay friends, I went and put disc brakes and a dual circuit master cylinder on it from Type E Motorsports. The whole conversion was a pretty easy process and I'm happy with the results. The only thing I was not prepared for was finding something to plug the fourth hole in the master cylinder. I see some people have two brake light switches. I just put a plug in there for now. It's 10x1.00 thread.
I also ordered up a bunch of seals and some tin that hopefully will fit better. I got a good look behind the doghouse with a mirror and I'm missing all the flaps and linkage for the thermostat. I found a used doghouse on eBay and will either rob it of those parts or use the whole thing depending on how good it looks in person.
I got the heat working correctly with new cables and levers on the heater boxes. Only to find out there's a big exhaust leak at the left rear donut. I ordered a repair sleeve in hopes that I can reseal it and retain the good quality heater boxes that are on there.

Those pound it in repair tubes are better than nothing, but they do restrict the exhaust flow due to smaller ID.
IOHO better to seek a local muffler repair shop and have them make you a proper repair tube with same OD and ID as stock and have them weld it in if you can not. They maybe able to make the repair piece out of stainless and weld it to the steel of the HE if they have the special steel to SS welding wire. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
