Seen in this picture taken from the gallery, there are two oval holes on either side of the spare tire, underneath where the wiring would run for the headlights.

What is the purpose of these holes? In other photos from the gallery, it seems they are usually plugged up and painted over?

My guess would be to let any water out.

Really don't know, but since they don't line up with anything useful. possibly jig holes from the factory.

I'm going to guess jig alignment, or maybe some sort of hook affair when it gets dipped in the paint baths.

Or vents to prevent airlocks when dipping body in paint vat.

I‘m wondering what to do with those holes myself. I don’t believe they are drain holes as they are above the spare tire well, water or paint would drain down there. I don‘t remember if there was anything covering them when I tore it apart several years ago.
