I was invited to this camp several years ago. This camp has been going strong for 50 years. It’s not a VW specific camp but over the years the VW population has grown. Once you’ve attended and didn’t make an ass out of yourself, you are in with the crew and can invite a new person to join in. This year I invited 67rustavenger with his new to him Euro Van.

The plan was to meet up at my house and then caravan over Mt Hood and into Warm Springs along the Deschutes River. Well I got some sort of food poisoning symptoms and left solo the following day. So here I go.

I found some old cassettes in the basement that I had not heard since high school in the 80s. I haven’t listened a to cassette since the early 90s

Off I go in the 85.

It’s a wet one on the west side of Mt Hood.

Well dodgertom, that doll had it coming! Laughing the random pencil's are really intriguing Think Think

About fishing. No. I have fished this river. Just not at this camp. The true name of the annual camp is called Friends of Trout. Because nobody harms trout or throws a line. This is the fifty first year of this camp Cool They did have an annual campout in August near the coast during the 80s called Enemy of Crawdad because crawdads got served up.

I'll add a few pics here.
We were disappointed to get Xevin's message that he was not feeling well Friday morning. So plans quickly changed and we rallied to the improvised travel plans.
I met up at one of the traveling companions house and we hit the road to Sandy Or. We waited for one other traveler to arrive.

I've been having fuel pump issues and thought that I had the issue cleared up. Nope, at an intersection my EV engine died. After 30 seconds the damn thing came back to life and we continued on our way to Warm Springs without any further issues.

Once you leave Warm Springs the riverside road follows along the Deschutes River for about 13 miles. The last few miles down to camp are dirt. There are many spectacular views on the way down the mountain side.

I actually thought that you were going to the F.O.T. campout. I was looking for your van but, didn't see ya there.

Had I known more about your van last February, I would have stopped by your camp to check out your mean sounding van a little better. Wink

No, funds are a little tight for racing this year. Crying or Very sad
$13.99 a gallon for race fuel would put a serious dent in my bank account!
I'll be helping Steve Marriot with his buggy racing effort this year.

Adding a few more pics,
So we finally arrived at the F.O.T. camp. Xevin had reserved a fantastic campsite and we took advantage of it, I mean after all, Xevin wasn't expected to be there anyway.

The lake view from the campsite was beautiful.

Of course, once you get to camp, you gotta take care of business. Inside the camp pit toilet someone had placed this sticker near the door.

I thought it was funny.
Friday evening we did a group dinner. I brought Carnitas' that I made ahead of time for the campout. One if the other guys brought chicken Fajitas' so we made tacos from both entrees. The food hit the spot and we were set to carry on with the nights debauchery. Sorry, no pics of the campsite happenings.

More to come.....

And realized that The Cult tape my girlfriend made for me was the same year as this Vanagon. Cool
