I'm very happy with my VWNOS box.

VWNOS is the correct answer. There is a thread on the Type 3 forum (at least 25 pages long) that goes into a ton of detail about rebuilding a vw steering box.

It's not light reading, but well worth it. I rebuilt my 67 steering box with a kit from Marcel at VWNOS. Great quality. You can also order a rebuilt box from him, or maybe even send yours to him to rebuild, I'm not sure.

I highly recommend.

I think the VWNOS box is actually a new steering box. The only shop I'm aware of rebuilding the old steering boxes is Airkewld.

I sell new boxes with upgraded parts. My boxes carry only steel cages bearings.

I also sell a rebuild kit you can use to rebuild your boxes to good as new. There are rebuilders out there who can take your box and put a kit in it. The world is your oyster.

Classic Brands. Classic Quality.
Not all parts are made the same. NOS OE/OEM parts made mainly in West Germany, Early Germany, and Early Brazil are where VW produced the best quality parts and best fitting products.
