for a fairground/themepark ride car it has a lot of style, the designer had a good eye. I was thinking it had a hint of type 34 at the front... _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Thanks BD. It was among a group of BMWs and I didn't have a chance to go over and take a closer look. _________________ *******************************

The body is a late model Alfa Romeo 105/115 series, but that surely doesn't look like an Alfa engine. BMW or some other swap? _________________ cars:

Other way around! In fact if I recall correctly one of GM's sales pitches was that the Corvair had "European styling"! _________________ Our cars get old, we get old but driving an old VW never gets old! |

That 5.0 badge is almost certainly Ford. I count 4 plug wires leading to the right side, so it's probably a V8. BMW only has one engine that's a V8 and has 5 liter displacement (4.9 technically), the S62. The head covers (just barely visible behind the plug wires) look like the S62's. So either that or a Ford 5.0, but if it was with other BMWs i would guess its BMW powered.
Edit:
I'm leaning towards Ford since I found this other 5.0 Ford conversion online at this site.

but those photos of the alfa with a ford lump are from quite a few years back, so maybe they've changed to a bmw engine. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

All the cars I mentioned came out after the Corvair, at a time when most euro car companies still looked to the US when styling new models.
In the case of the Prinz 4 and Fiat 1500 (both launched in 1961) the Corvair inspiration has been openly acknowledged by their respective designers Claus Luthe and Felice Mario Boano. I don't have a direct reference about the Imp, it may be even a derivative of the Prinz 4, but the styling cues are pretty obvious and it came out in 1963 after a significant redesign from its "bubble car" prototypes. _________________ cars:

Yep, 1971 Mazda. It was my cousins, came with a rotary engine but had been converted to inline four JDM engine. Had some running issues but was a cool little car, people were always asking what it was. _________________ Currently:
